This position functions as liaison between criminal justice stakeholders and substance abuse and mental health treatment providers. Primary tasks include assessment of mental health and co-occurring disorders, consulation regarding treatment options and availability of treatment in the community, referral to mental health and substance abuse providers, direct assistance as needed to help transition persons with mental illness or co-occurring disorders from jail to the community, and support of court based behavioral health interventions. They will also be able to work closely with professionals in the legal, mental health and substance abuse fields and be capable of independent evaluation of client needs, risk and program appropriateness. Must be able to pass Administrative Office of the Courts Records check.
Masters prepared clinician (LMHC, LCSW, LMFT) with a degree from an accredited college or university. A well-qualified candidate will have three to five years experience working with persons with severe mental illness and be familiar with forensic, mental health and substance abuse treatment systems. Needs to be able to write proficiently and be able to utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Avatar. Excellent communication and professionalism required.
